Rubicon Law acting as Singapore counsel to Taliworks Corporation Berhad in its acquisition of four solar projects in Malaysia

Rubicon Law is pleased to announce that we are acting as Singapore counsel to Taliworks Corporation Berhad ("TCB"), a company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in its proposed acquisition of the equity interests in three Malaysian-incorporated feed-in approval holders, which collectively own and operate four solar projects in Selangor, Malaysia.

The acquisition will be made by TCB, through its wholly owned subsidiary Taliworks Renewables Sdn. Bhd., which had entered into two conditional SPAs for the acquisition with affiliates of Brookfield Asset Management Inc., an alternative asset management company focusing on real estate, renewable power, infrastructure and private equity, and a subsidiary of SEV Renewables Sdn Bhd, a company in the Malaysian renewable energy industry for a total transaction sum of RM180.4m. The completion of the acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals being obtained, and customary conditions precedent.

This acquisition represents TCB's penetration and venture into the renewable energy market and will allow TCB to strategically position itself to participate in future schemes and projects relating to renewable energy, which will be a key focus area for Malaysia in the coming years.
